ConsenSys and Microsoft Collaborate to Bring Ethereum to Enterprises
New York, NY — ConsenSys announced today the PegaSys Ethereum suite — which includes Hyperledger Besu, PegaSys Plus and PegaSys Orchestrate — will be available on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. In addition, The Microsoft Blockchain Development Kit for Ethereum will now support Hyperledger Besu directly. These offerings will help developers deploy multi-node networks with explorers, monitoring, and dashboards to run the tools needed to manage a fully-fledged Enterprise Ethereum network.
PegaSys Ethereum Suite on Microsoft Azure Marketplace
The PegaSys team at ConsenSys built and maintains Hyperledger Besu, the open-source Ethereum client written in Java. In 2019 it was contributed to Hyperledger, a multi-project open source collaborative blockchain effort hosted by The Linux Foundation. PegaSys Plus is the commercial subscription of Hyperledger Besu offering additional capabilities and support guarantees. PegaSys Orchestrate is an Ethereum transaction orchestration system that enables organizations to build on any Ethereum network by providing functionality to manage transactions, smart contracts, private keys and more. Together, the PegaSys Ethereum Suite has been downloaded over 130,000 times by enterprise developers.
Developers will be able to access the PegaSys Ethereum Suite through the Azure Marketplace to build private networks and operate on the Ethereum mainnet. PegaSys tools can be used to build enterprise applications requiring secure, high-performance transaction processing. Additionally, the PegaSys Ethereum Suite features privacy, permissioning, and security capabilities to meet key enterprise requirements. With these offerings on Azure, deploying PegaSys tools becomes that much simpler for developers, leaving more time to focus on dApp development.
ConsenSys has had a long-standing partnership with Microsoft extending back to the first Visual Studio plug-in for Solidity that the pair launched in early 2016. ConsenSys and Microsoft are both founding members of the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA) and helped to develop the EEA client specification that Hyperledger Besu follows. Since then, Microsoft has contributed to the open source client and collaborated on its roadmap. With Microsoft’s dominance in cloud services and deep experience in enterprise software, the partnership is poised to deliver the most advanced programmable blockchain to businesses across the world through the PegaSys Ethereum Suite.
“We are excited to see the launch of Hyperledger Besu and PegaSys Plus on the Azure Marketplace. Continuing to advance the enterprise quality and tooling for blockchain networks and development is core to serving the needs of customers using Azure. In combination with the VS Code Blockchain DevKit for Ethereum, a new standard for blockchain development has been set,” said Yorke E. Rhodes III, Principal Program Manager, Blockchain Engineering, Microsoft.
Enterprises can access the PegaSys Ethereum Suite through the following listings on the Azure marketplace:
- The Hyperledger Besu Quickstart on Azure provides an easy way for developers to spin up Besu for the first time on a single VM. Our quickstart tutorial provides a guide for how to exercise the network and explore the many features and capabilities of Besu on your own personal network.
- The Hyperledger Besu AKS Network offering on Azure deploys a distributed example network with several configurable parameters, enabling enterprises building pilot and production networks a significant head start. Developers can examine our best practices to deliver production-grade networks.
Additional marketplace listings for the PegaSys Ethereum suite will be available soon.
The PegaSys Ethereum Suite in Microsoft Blockchain Development Kit for Ethereum
The Microsoft Blockchain Development Kit for Ethereum provides a stellar experience that allows the developer to stay inside the IDE and avoid context switching. Along with direct support for ConsenSys projects such as Truffle, Infura, and other open source projects like OpenZeppelin, the Microsoft Development Kit now supports Hyperledger Besu. Developers can connect directly to the RPC endpoint of the Besu deployments and develop, deploy and debug smart contracts on the Besu network.
