New Ethereum 2.0 Report: Over 65% of All Respondents Plan to Stake Their ETH
A user-driven report of the motivations, preferences, and concerns of ETH holders in anticipation of staking on Eth2.
Ethereum 2.0 is set to go live in 2020, marking the long-anticipated upgrade to the public mainnet. One of the core upgrades in the first phase of Ethereum 2.0 is the switch from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake. In order to launch the network, Ethereum 2.0 will require 16,384 validators to stake their ETH in a deposit contract.
Key to the success of Ethereum 2.0’s launch, therefore, is the commitment of ETH holders to voluntarily stake their funds. ConsenSys Codefi completed a survey of ~300 ETH holders across the ecosystem who are considering staking on Ethereum 2.0. The survey determined their motivations to (or not to) stake, their preferences of staking services, their concerns, and more.
The Ethereum 2.0 Staking Report is a collection and analysis of the insight drawn from this user research. The hope is for these conclusions to provide transparency for staking service providers into users’ needs to better motivate the adoption of Ethereum 2.0.
